Early-release course

You are accessing an early-release version of the Mass Casualty Management course, produced by the WHO Academy. We encourage you to provide feedback on your learning experience. We will use your feedback to adapt and improve the course and the WHO Academy online platform.

About this course

Mass casualty incidents are disasters and major incidents that can rapidly overwhelm the ability of local medical resources to deliver comprehensive medical care. Health facilities and emergency medical teams often represent the frontline of the health system during such events and are key to effective emergency response.

Effective mass casualty management can minimize disruption of essential health services and save lives. This course uses game-based learning to help clinical and non-clinical health professionals learn the complete cycle of preparedness, response, and recovery.

This course has been co-developed with multiple international partners to incorporate current best practices and field experiences.

Who is this course for?

  • Heads of health facilities and emergency departments
  • Hospital managers and other key decision makers
  • Health and non-health staff working in emergency units
