About Health Inequality Monitoring 101

Everyone, everywhere should be able to access the health services they need and attain their full potential of health and well-being. Unfortunately, however, large inequalities in health continue to exist – many of which are unfair, avoidable or remediable. Monitoring health inequalities is vital to achieving health equity: using data to measure differences between populations can identify areas for action and inform evidence-based health programmes and policies that are equity-oriented.
This course introduces the foundations of health inequality monitoring and presents a range of WHO tools and resources for measuring and reporting health inequality. The health inequality monitoring principles and tools presented in this course can be applied to any health or health-related topic.
