About this course

This online course addresses the critical gap in understanding and integrating a human rights-based approach (HRBA) to comprehensive abortion care. Despite the recognized importance of integrating human rights principles into healthcare, many professionals lack the necessary knowledge and skills to apply these principles effectively in comprehensive abortion care. This course is intended to bridge this gap by providing practical guidance and tools to ensure that abortion services are accessible, equitable and delivered in a way that respects, protects, and fulfils the human rights of all individuals seeking care.

The content provided in this online course is based on the  WHO Abortion care guideline which consists of global recommendations. Specific national regulations, policies, and procedures are not contained in this course.

This course is a joint effort between UNFPA, WHO AFRO, and WHO/HRP with the support of the 2gether 4 SRHR programme. The 2gether 4 SRHR  programme, is a comprehensive joint UN regional programme.
